My husband really is from Mars

My husband really is from Mars

My husband is really out there during some of the conversations we have.  There are many conversations where I just scratch my head and wonder how he has made it this far in life  lol.  Take the latest one for example.  We got a letter from A.J.'s school stating they gave him two eye tests recently and as a result they suggested he get examined by an Optometrist.   I didn't really expect A.J. to need glasses, but if he did it really wouldn't surprise me.  My whole family and most of dh's family wear glasses.  I have been prescribed glasses since I was 9yrs old.  So anyway, went to the exam and guess what?  Yep, he needs glasses.

My dh doesn't wear glasses and just couldn't figure out why his child would even need them.  In fact (and this is where he starts to totally loses his mind) he actually says to me that he wants a second opinion because, aren't Optometrists like Psychiatrists and what they do isn't really based on any science and that they are somehow not real doctors?  WTF??  HUH???  Did he really just say that?  Then as his mind totally melts into sludge he says that he wouldn't trust anyone who took the word of a 6yr old on what letters/numbers they could, or could not see from across the room.  At this point how do I even respond?  I was speechless and would've slapped some sense into him, had I thought it would help.

I'm leaving....on a jet plane!

I'm leaving....on a jet plane!

I am going back to Arizona for 10 day to see my family!!  I have a couple reasons to go back other than the usual casual visit.

First is that one of my grandmas is in the hospital.  She has congestive heart failure and dementia.  It seems that the dementia came on really quickly.  I mean she had moments and times where she was confused, but lately she is way more confused most of the time then some of the time.  I have no idea how long she will be in the hospital.  She does qualify for hospice though so she will be able to go home and have caregivers come in to help care for her.  Beyond that I am not sure of her prognosis.

My next reason for going home right now are 2 things that are good.  First off dh is going to Maryland for 8 to 12 weeks for a really good overtime job.  The job starts the 28th of September.  And my sister is due to have her baby any day now!!  If I don't go now I won't be able to go again till after Christmas (since dh will be gone and I can't take the kids out of school) and I don't want to wait till my first niece is like 4 months old till I see here for the first time.  I think I am more excited then my sister.  But then this is one little baby I don't have to deliver so whats not to be excited about? lol  I can't wait to post pics.  Since I have all boys, this is going to be one spoiled little girl.

Now for the awesome part of all this.  I am leaving dh alone with our 3 kids for the 10 days I will be gone.  He has never been alone with the kids for that long.  Of course, he will say when it is all over what a piece of cake it was.  However he really has no idea of all the little things I take care of that he never even has to think about.  I sure wish I could be a fly on the wall to watch it all  lol.

I leave in 4 days (just bought my tickets yesterday) and I have so much to do before then.  Being a holiday weekend doesn't help either.  I have to go get Alex new glasses.  Plus I need to schedule a Dr appoint for him to get a sports physical (he wants to play tennis).  We don't have a Dr here in TX yet, so seeing as it will need to be a "new patient appointment" I honestly don't see him getting an appointment real quick.  So dh will have to take him to that.  Then Tuesday is A.J's 6th birthday.  Wow, I almost can't believe it.  I haven''t started shopping for that yet, so that will need to be done this weekend also.  Dh is gone all day today helping someone with some electrical work.  He has our only car so I am stuck here not getting anything done.  Maybe I'll get lucky and he won't take all day.

A little update:  I just talked to my mom.  My grandma's Kidneys are failing and they are moving her to hospice, perhaps today so they can make her comfortable.  She is not aware of what is going on and seems to be in a really happy place in her mind so that is good.   My mom thinks she may not even make it till I come home.

Birthday party!

Birthday party!

Today is A.J.'s 5th birthday!! Wow, how time flies. So yesterday we had his party. He got some money, which he always likes, and some games for his Nintendo DS. The DS was the birthday present from his dad but since he was going to be in Washington for his birthday A.J. got that present early.

Here are some pics from the party.

My crazy kids

My crazy kids

I have 3 kids, boys no less. They couldn't be more different from one another if they tried.

First is Alexander (Alex), he is 13 and well in to the teen attitude. He is smart, funny, creative and his own person. He is really good at video games. I can buy him one and in a few days he has already beat it and wants to move on to another. He also loves to invent and make videos, which he is very good at. He does these amazing stop motion videos. He is very shy, however at home he is as loud as can be. He is always making some sort of noise and honestly it just drives me insane. He has been to many schools cause we move so much so he has a hard time making friends. He absolutely does not want to come to Vegas and live in an RV (he is FL visiting his dad right now, home in 3 days Yay!!). We have lived here before but he was about 3yrs old at the time so he doesn't remember it. I am trying so hard to help him grow in to a good man but he likes to resist anything I say, as all teenagers do.

Next is my little man Andrew (A.J.). He is 4 yrs (5 in Sept) and just a little lover, really friendly and a talker. Boy does he love to talk. He talks non stop all day everyday about anything and everything. He likes to build things out of whatever he can get his hands on. He loves robots and loves to draw things, like robots and invent games on paper. Maybe it is because he is the middle child but he is usually at the mercy of his older and younger brothers A.J. is my dh's first son as Alex is from my ex dh. Dh expects him to be a certain way and wants him in sports and such but right now I just don't see A.J. getting into that. He is more brain then brawn.
Last but certainally not least is Matthew. He is 3, and a total daddy's boy. He is my little sociopath. This boy can lie straight to your face and not blink. He is quite the terror. He picks on A.J. like he was born to do it and A.J. is way to polite to fight back. One minute he is the sweetest little boy, giving you kisses and hugs and before you know it he is behind your back doing something destructive. He is stealth too. Wow, the things he does you will never know about till it is done. Matthew is my little cutie and has that gleam in his eye. Just don't turn your back on him for a second. He can con the best of them with his look of "I am so innocent".
I love all my boys and their vast personalities. Each one challenges me in a new way every single day.
