I hate my van, where do I even start???

I would love my van if it were new, if it worked and if my dh wasn't such a putz!!!
My van is 12 yesrs old and has ISSUES for a year now. I have taken it to 2 different shops, one of those shops several times. No one know what the hell is wron with my van. It stalls all the time. When I am driving, turning (in TRAFFIC), just for no reasdon it stalls. Of course when it stalls when turning I have no power steering which SUCKS!!!
So last week I was in the drive thru getting lunch and the engine started smoking. I pulled over and sat in the parking lot for an hour with my 5 and 3 yesr olds. Then on Thursday I was out with my 13yr old looking for a Halloween costume for him. The van over heated again! I pulled over and had to get my dad, who was in his car with my mom and both of my grandmas heading out to dinner, to come and get me and my ds. Friday I went and got it and drove it over to a garage around the corner.
It needs $3,000 woth of repairs!! We only paid 4,000 for it 3 years ago. Dh is dead against getting a new/used vehicle. So I borrowed my gandma's car. Fine and dandy you would think.
Called the tow truck to take my vehicle from the garage back home since we aren't repairing it right now, because as you know dh can do the same $3,000 repair for only $200, but he is in TEXAS and won't be home till CHRISTMAS!!!! I get to the garage and pay for the diagnotic on the van and wouldn't you f-ing know it when I went to drive my grandn'a car home it wouldn't start!!! I as the garage guy (by then the garage was technically CLOSED) to help me out and from his quick look he said that the fuel pump went out on that car!
What NOW???? I have no car, I have NO car to borrow from ANYONE and dh will not be home for 2 months. So now he has me call rental car places to find out what their monthly rates are. ah yeah, $750-%830 a month.
Can we shoot me?? On no, better yet... SHOT DH. He is not here carless with 3 kids!!!

OMG Susan! What a mess! I hope you can get something worked out this week, that is so not fair to you and the kids and your family you have to borrow from.

i feel so bad for you. car trouble sucks as it is, let alone having all of the extra stuff you have to deal with. keep us posted on what happens...
