I will be honest and say that living in TX was something I never wanted to do. I don't have anything specific against TX or people who live here. There are just other states further up on my list of places I would prefer to live. But, if I must live in certain places there are certain requirements I have, to make it much more pleasurable. So if I am going to live in TX, because of dh's work, then I was determined to live some place on the coast.

So here I am, living in Baytown, TX (about a half hour from Houston). It is surrounded by water (Galveston Bay) on three sides. The Bay is right out our back door here at the nice RV park we are staying at. Now I just need to convince dh to stay here for our whole time here and not move to a place closer to where he may work.

The best part about being here is, the breeze. TX is hot and humid and pretty much miserable inland. I like heat but this humidity is killing me. By the bay there is a constant breeze. It is still ungodly hot, but the breeze takes a bit of the edge off.

At least that is what your gonna think! Just let me say we have researched this long and hard.

First things first. It seems we have bought one heck of a big fifth wheel toy hauler. It has 3 axles and is just shy of 42 feet long. That means that an F-450 truck just won't cut it and neither will most other trucks in the same class. What we need is a commercial truck. How insane is that?

We finally found one in our price range and it will do the job like no other.



Hopefully we can run up to Vegas next Wednesday or sooner to get it. The owner *said* he would hold it for us and I hope he does.

Here is one of the cool parts too. It has 5 leather captains chairs in the cab and since there are 5 of us it will work out perfectly. I am not too keen on the green but hey, we all have to make sacrifices lol.



So, when it is all said and done this is what we will look like towing our vehicle down the road. I hope there is enough room for us in those RV parks lol


Now to answer all your burning questions.... No, you do not need a CDL to drive one of these truck. Why you ask? Ok, maybe you could care less but you came here to learn right? This particular truck started out as a 2 axle semi tracker but it has since been cut down to a single axle and converted to something that will tow an RV. Single axle means you do not need a CDL, provided the truck does not weigh more then 26,000 lbs.

Now a tid bit about me. I used to have a CDL (I dropped it when I got my AZ license). Anyway I have driven a semi with a 53 foot trailer across this country over every mountain range in the U.S. However I will probably let dh do all the driving of our fifth wheel but if push come to shove I can drive it. And I should say it was fun as heck driving a semi. I loved being the biggest thing on the road. Of course I hating the parking part of it and ultimately that is why I don't do it any more.


P.S. I got a molar pulled the other day. My face is swollen and I am still in pain and on meds etc... So if I sound a little out of it, please forgive me. And the really fun part is, in less then 2 weeks I get to go get another molar pulled on the opposite side of my mouth.

P.S.S. Have I mentioned lately we leave AZ in less then a month and I haven't even started going through anything in the house yet to get ready for this move? *JUST SHOOT ME!!!*

That is, I'll be heading to AZ tomorrow. Alex has been at his dad's in Florida since late May and he flys back Saturday. Of course when I scheduled the flight we were still living in AZ. It will give Alex and the boys a chance to spend a week with Grandma and Grandpa before we head back here so that is good.

I am not looking forward to the drive however. As of right now the blower fan on my van is broken so I have no A/C. Ok, it is 105 here today and 103 in AZ. I don't anticipate the temp will drastically drop by tomorrow, grrrr. That means I need to leave very, very early in the morning so I can beat the heat. Dh is going to look at the blower tonight though to see if he can get it to work or if it is totally shot. Honestly I am not holding my breath. Also dh has to put antifreeze in my radiator. Right now it only has water in it and driving here the van kept "almost" over heating going up the mountains. My van has other issues too and the last thing I want to happen is to have it beak down in the middle of God knows where with the kids with me. Tell ya what, I am taking plenty of ice and drinks just to be sure.

This may be a tough trip for all of us. I know my mom are going to be at odds during this visit. She thinks Alex should stay at my sister's house and go to school there and not come to Vegas. I think, he is my son and should be where I am at. So she is going to put on the big guilt trip and make me feel like shit for my decisions. Alex is going to fight me all the way too since he would rather stay at my sister's place then come here and live in an "RV".

I know, I am 40 and this is my family but I still care about what my parents think. I just need to stand by mine and dh's decision to live this life the way we want and hope for the best after that. I will be sure to blog all my family adventures while I am there. Hopefull my sanity will stay somewhat intact.
